Research Fellow in Transport Data Science

Job Description

Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have a background in transport, geographic data and data science? Do you want to further your career in one of the UK’s leading research intensive Universities?

This role will see you join a dynamic team who have built important components of high-impact transport planning tools including the Propensity to Cycle Tool (PCT), the Rapid Cycleway Prioritisation Tool (Rapid) and the Cycling Infrastructure Prioritisation Toolkit (CyIPT). These tools have been deployed nationally in the UK, and are having a large impact on active travel planning, making it more evidence-based. The logical next step is to create foundations for internationally scalable tools that are free and open source, to improve the evidence base for a transition away from fossil fuels in the transport sector worldwide.

You will also work with staff across the Institute for Transport Studies, with collaborations at the Leeds Institute for Data Analytics (LIDA) and the ESRC-funded Consumer Data Research Centre (CDRC), you will undertake research projects closely aligned to the aims of the CDRC and to its data partners. Your job will be to create these foundations.
